Orphaned at a young age, the German based Motswana, Zimbabwe born and Botswana raised singer-songwriter, Nomina, and her four siblings faced the hardship of learning to survive without parents. Through this experience, Nomina felt like it was her calling to inspire people with her music. She later moved to Aachen, Germany to study International Business Administration. In her early career, the self-taught aspiring music artist performed in regional hip-hop and gospel bands. She also worked in Musical Theatre and has featured as a soloist in the prominent musicals “We will rock you”, “King of the Lions”, “Mama Mia” and “Dance of the Vampires”. Nomina has done several international live performances and has appeared in the print radio and TV media globally. Her debut video “MAMALAND” – a cover of the Yvonne Chaka Chaka song ‘Motherland’ – proved to be a hit with over 2.4 million views.

She followed up that success with her second single “Don’t Cry Africa” on the Day of South African Reconciliation – 16 December 2016. In 2017 Nomina dropped her third single “Babe Love” – a relatable song which portrays personal experiences that cause loss, pain and disappointment, and how to overcome those afflictions.

Now Nomina is ready to move her career to the next level, with her brand new single and supporting video “Amadlozi” ft. Slam & Mendel. The track, exclusively distributed under Sony Music Entertainment Africa (Pty) Ltd, was produced in Germany, mixed in Botswana and mastered in the USA.

“Amadlozi” embraces the artist’s core culture and roots, by celebrating the African spiritual ancestors who can be summoned for assistance. If you are a fan or new to Nomina, the very first thing you will learn is that her messages and songs are each written from the heart and sung with so much beauty and love.

Running through her catalog of songs, you’ll enjoy the upbeat electro tempos, the slow R&B grooves, and the soulful afro-flavored jams that fill every song as Nomina takes you on a journey through passion, joy, sorrow, pain, hope and love.

When I first put I first put “Amadlozi” on, I sat down with a cup of coffee and just let its sound fill my living room, so I could hear what Nomina wanted to speak to me about. I was not disappointed. Her music is an inspiration, as she continues to share her gifts and soul with the world.

Nomina’s voice sounds more dynamic and nuanced than ever before, and her richly-flavored timbre gives added heft to the song. She has always sung with authority, but her expanded register here, more effectively communicates this inspirational song. “Amadlozi” is one of Nomina’s best pieces of work to date.

Nomina sings with an expression of new found joy and harmony. Her deep sense of maturity and control resonates in all of the lyrics. This is clearly a voice of a woman who has faced more than a few hard times, but has come out victorious on the other side.

She is a phenomenal singer who will uplift your spirit and breathe life into your soul. She’ll make you feel like you could conquer the world. Nomina is a masterful storyteller and skillful lyricist, and “Amadlozi” ft. Slam & Mendel is a more than convincing confirmation of that fact.
